Ghana update Final Jan 2007

We are home again - smile. I want to thank God for the 4 brave ladies who came to teach His people. They faced the challenges of the unknown, trusting in God to guide them and give them His strength!

God blessed this trip with many examples of the Gospel spreading . . .

  • The 4 new Deaf Vicars.
  • The soon to be 4 new Evangelists preparing for May.
  • Our leaders coming all day, everyday to learn His Word!
  • The openness of the schools to share the Gospel (even in Muslim areas!)
  • The Deaf leaders inviting more Deaf from around Ghana to come study with us.
  • The desire to temporarily begin the Lutheran High School on the Kumasi compound until the buildings at the main site are ready.
  • And many many more…

God also helped us through the challenges….

  • Harmatton was very bad - the dust from the desert
  • Same foods everyday - rice and fish and eggs - smile
  • Frustrating traffic
  • Stolen cell phones - yes one of ours was stolen.
  • Gossip against us for teaching the Gospel
  • So many people under the weight of the law and not seeing the Gospel
  • And many many more

We thank God he kept us safe and guided us.

Please continue to pray for the Deaf in Ghana.
Pray for the leaders - that God will give them courage and wisdom.
Pray for their families - that God will protect them and help their faith grow.
Pray for all the children - that God will provide ways for them to learn His Gospel.
Please also pray for the teams that will go to Ghana in May, August, and again next January.
Pray for God to guide faithful people who are willing to come with us and teach.

I also THANK YOU!! Without your prayers and support these Mission trips would not be possible. Thank you for your support through your prayers and your financial gifts to help spread the Gospel. We pray as we prepare these leaders and vicars through the next two years that God will open many more doors for us to share the saving story about Jesus love and forgiveness.

I pray the Holy Spirit will also bless you.
His Word will grow deep and strong in your faith and life!
Serving Jesus together in America and around the world!!

Reaching out to the deaf in Ghana

January 18th - Betty Jo Lucero writes...
What an experience I am having here in Ghana!  Linda Zoiss and I stayed at Cape Coast Deaf school for 4 days and three nights. But before I share you my experience at the school, let me tell you that my group and I went to Kakum Park to walk across the rope bridge.  There are six sections...

January 9th-the Deaf Ministry Group left for Ghana - Please Keep them in your Prayers
On January 9th five of our fellow Lutherans joined Rev. John Reinke, director of Concordia Seminary's Deaf Institute as he travels to Ghana. Rev. Reinke commented "We go to Ghana to "Reach the Deaf" and to teach God's word to the Deaf. They are "hungry" to know about God. We teach them so they, in turn, can be well-versed to go and teach the Gospel to other deaf Ghanaians." The team will return to the United States on January 31st.
