Ethnic Ministries Network of LCMS-NID
It is our intent to provide a "connector" for District Ministries to reach Unchurched Immigrants in the communities that are served.
Various groups are coming together through this site to communicate with one another, share ideas, and edify those who are involved with the missions in this area.

Our Beliefs
Our outreach is to those who have no church home. Many in our area are disillusioned with religion. They have felt the sting of legalism with its impossible demands. Some have seen hypocrisy. Others have had no religious background and therefore see Christianity as irrelevant. The missing element has been healthy relationships with mature believers in Jesus.

On Saturday, October 27th Christ the King Lutheran Church in Chicago served as the host site for LCC's pre-holiday distribution of baby items and children's toys. Representatives from the following churches arrived between 8 and 11:30 to select items that they could use in their ministries: New Hope Lutheran Church and School, Chicago; Bethesda Haitian Ministry, Chicago; Zion Lutheran Church, Chicago; Christ the King Church and School, Chicago; Trinity-Santa Trinidad, Chicago; Grace Lutheran School, Chicago; and Jehovah El Buen Pastor Church and School, Chicago. The Principle of Jehovah El Buen Pastor said that in the Hispanic Community they celebrate the Three Kings Day Festival and these toys will give them a head start on the gifts they need to wrap and give to each of the children.
A special thanks to Mrs. Geri Brazeal and the children of Christ the King School who on Friday unpacked the 12 foot trailer filled with items for the distribution and brought them into the building. When LCC staff member Dianna Bonfield and LCC volunteer Tammy Rak arrive Friday evening to set out the items they found their work already half done. On Saturday Pastor John and Geri Brazael assisted with the distribution of the items.
Epiphany Lutheran Church in Elmhurst made this possible by generously donating all of the toys and baby items.
Thank You Epiphany for Making a Difference!

Consider a Food Drive for Ethnic Ministries
One of the most important ways for our Ethnic Ministries in the Northern Illinois Area to reach out to those in their community is through food.
Food becomes the vehicle to reach families with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Lutheran Church Charities has several trailers that we will make available to a church/organization wishing to run a food drive to serve one of our ethnic ministries. Here's an example of how it works: Your church or organization runs a food drive for a one week period. LCC will provide you with a trailer (click picture at left to see a larger view) and a shopping list of food items. You announce it one Sunday, have people bring the food and load the trailer during the week. Your drive ends the following Sunday. After the food drive, either a member of your church takes the trailer filled with food directly (LCC will coordinate/choose an Ethnic Ministry for delivery) or LCC will pick up the trailer and get it to the Ethnic Ministry of your choice.
You CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
| We have commitments from the following churches thus far: Immanuel Lutheran in Steger, IL recently completed their drive with a trailer on site, then delivered to Ebenzer Lutheran in Chicago... St. James in Chicago used a Van and Trailer for Thanksgiving Food Collection. Good Shepherd in Elgin currently has a larger trailer for Winter Clothing & Stuffed Animals Collection. |
If your church or organization would like to participate, please contact LCC for more information at 866-455-6466.

This past Saturday morning, representatives from 12 of the Chicagoland Ethnic Ministries converged on Christ the King Lutheran Church (the south side of Chicago) to pick up packages of frozen meat to distribute to the needy in their communities. Lutheran Church Charities received a generous donation of 5,000 lbs of frozen meat from Mr. Tom Roche owner of Economy Packing Co. The meat was given out by various Ethnic Ministries as a way of outreach in the name of Christ.
On hand to unload the truck were 30 volunteers. They represented three Lutheran Churches: St John Lutheran of West Bend ,Wisconsin; Trinity Lutheran of Bloomington, Illinois; and Bethlehem Lutheran of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. The youth and their adult leaders served Jesus by serving the members of Christ the King and the community with several projects including: unloading the 5000 lbs of meat, helping with Market Day, washing windows, removing trees and brush and cleaning up the yard around the church. This was a follow up visit after the UKANDU Youth Mission Trip of this past summer 2005.
