A lady named Jeyanthi Asheervath recognized this great need and had a vision for the betterment of humanity and this much-needed hope to those marginalized in Indian Society. To recognize this vision, Jeyanthi established the foundations for a functional familial system in a Christ-centered atmosphere and founded Asirvadh Children's Home. In India the "ashram" (Children's Home) concept is a communal society that fosters the strengths of individuals and harnesses their energies to sustain a shared vision. |

| Bethesda Food Outreach | Bethesda has a group of 40 to 60 French-speaking people who gather in its sanctuary each Sunday to worship. Some come from a far distance to be part of this worship and fellowship. Recently, Pastor Bingue contacted LCC requesting food to feed the families on Sundays. |

| Cancer Victim - Peace Plainfield | Request from Pastor Galen Sollie, Peace Lutheran Church, Plainfield, IllinoisWe are working with a family in need of assistance with medical bills. The son is battling inoperable brain cancer and the family is being overwhelmed with bills. |
| Cancer Victims - StJohnAlg | Request from Pastor William Stroup, St John's Lutheran Church, Algonquin We are working with a member family in desperate need of financial help. Dan (43 years old), and his wife Susan, have one son. In 1996, at the age of 30, Dan was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor. He went through standard rounds of radiation treatment at the time and everything was fine for many years. A year later, in 1997, they found out that Susan also had a brain tumor. Susan went through an 11 ½ hour surgery and they removed only ½ of her tumor. As of this writing, Susan is in stable condition. Dan, on the other hand is a different story. In 2001 Dan started to have grand mal seizures. This led to him getting maxed out on many different medications. In 2005 Dan was diagnosed with a grade IV Glioblastoma. He was told that this is a very aggressive cancer and that he had already received the max dosage of radiation a person can receive in their lifetime; so chemotherapy was the next course of treatment. Dan completed four years, and four types of chemo in June of 2009.Unfortunately, it is now six months later and the cancer is on the rise once again. Dan has now found himself going back on chemotherapy. Dan was once a very active business owner and young, outgoing individual. He is now trapped to the likes of seizures, drugs and hospital visits. He cannot work and support his family. His insurance, medications, and general life expenses are far more than his wife can handle. As a family they have been helped by other family members as much as they can. We are doing what we can as a congregation. Any additional support for this family as they struggle to regain financial stability would be a great blessing. |

| Construction Trailer - Immanuel Joplin | Immanuel Lutheran Church and Martin Luther School have asked Trent Davis to serve as full time Disaster Relief Coordinator with support from President Mirley of the Missouri District. As Trent begins the transition to Joplin he has asked for an office trailer similar to those used on construction sites. This will allow Martin Luther School and Immanuel to return their spaces to other ministry uses. |

| Emergency Family Fund | LCC gets requests daily concerning people who need assistance, and it is increasing because of the current economic times we are living in.LCC works through our churches to provide assistance by making the need known - and dollar per dollar we give the money to a church to help the family or individual. However, we receive some requests that are emergencies, and money is needed that day or the next day and we can't always get the need out in our weekly email newsletter first.Would you consider making a gift to our LCC Emergency Assistance fund so that when these emergency needs occur we can help (through our churches) quicker? He was recently diagnosed with a seizure disorder. He had an MRI taken which showed a cystic mass in the left lobe of his brain. The usual treatment involves surgery to remove the mass and a biopsy to diagnose the nature of the mass. The treatment needs to be done in a timely manner to prevent any kind of permanent damage to the brain. There is no pediatric neurosurgery hospital in Ethiopia that can do this procedure. Depending on the result of the biopsy, he may need chemotherapy. He needs to come to the United States for the surgery. It is estimated that the cost of the surgery may be around $30,000.The congregation at St. Peter is committed to helping to get Nahom Moges to the United States for this surgery. Every member of the family was fine, but their house and most of their belongings were destroyed. The mom is an active member of our congregation and serves part-time as our custodian. Her three daughters, ages 6, 5, and 2 were overcome with grief, especially at the thought of losing their Christmas presents. | First Bethlehem Chicago Hunger Walk |
Once again I will be participating in the Greater Chicago Food Depository's (GCFD) Hunger Walk on June 26. This is a great opportunity for us to raise some funds for our food pantry at First Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Chicago. We are able to get food for our pantry at a greatly discounted price through GCFD--usually we pay less than half of what it would cost us to buy the items at a place like Aldi's. Thus, we have found the GCFD an excellent organization to enhance our efforts to feed the hungry. The nice thing about the Hunger Walk is that whatever funds we raise go completely into our account with the GCFD. Thus, your donation isn't going into a general operating fund for the GCFD, but will be credited directly to our account for whenever we buy groceries from them. |

| Haiti - Luther's Small Catechism in Creole | Each week in each of our churches people who have never heard the Gospel come and receive Christ. They are then instructed in the Christian faith – but they need the Word and a Catechism in Creole. Through Lutheran Heritage Foundation we are able to purchase a Catechism in Creole at $5 each. |

| Haiti / Dominican Republic - Bible Study Materials | Requests for access to Crossways International's (CI) materials-See Through the Scriptures (STS) in particular-continue to come in from numerous corners of the world. This course has been translated into many languages-including Spanish and French. At the present time, workers in Haiti and the Dominican Republic are asking for thousands of copies of this course in both languages. The initial request was for a total of 9,000 copies which would cost $1.25 per copy to print in the Dominican Republic. CI simply does not have access to the needed funding. However, workers in these countries are asking for at least 2,000 copies (1,000 of each translation) which they can print for $1.50 each. STS has also been translated into Creole, the major language used in Haiti. The hope is to print also this new translation. Although the people who live in Haiti and Dominican Republic have little of this world's goods, they have a passion to learn more about Jesus. Can you help fund these projects? Please consider making an ETERNAL Difference in a life! We continue to raise funds for food (see article below) but also need to provide spiritual food. |

These children will go home and teach their parents that Voudou is not their salvation but Jesus Christ is. The Haitian people have a great respect for education so they will listen to what their children bring home from school. |
| Haiti Shoe Fund | There are over 10,000 people here in tents, over 30% are small children WITHOUT SHOES. Because of the filthy conditions in the camps and the lack of shoes for the children, many children are getting infections and worms and dying! I know we are collecting shoes to send but shoes are needed NOW. I have worked out a deal to get two pairs of shoes (plastic ones) for about $5 U.S. I am giving all the cash I have with me to help in one of the camps with about 500 children. Can you help me with the others? We are working through First Lutheran Church of Jacmel. Please contribute now if you are moved to help! Thank you for your compassion for these children. Your donation will put a pair of shoes on a child within 24 hrs of your donation. |

Here is the information about our mission in Port-au-Prince. We have supported Pastor Ernst Mesidor for 8 years. He has a wonderful church and the orphanage. And he has planted many countryside churches. | Historic St Matthew Building | Historic St. Matthew Lutheran Church, after 138 years of Christian service in Chicago, faces the overwhelming task of having to comply with expensive building repairs imposed by the City's Building Department; especially at a time when our nation faces a stagnant economy. St. Matthew with its commitment to feed the homeless and unemployed finds it very hard, if not impossible, to have the funding required for this awesome task. At St. Matthew we have an uphill struggle ahead of us. Driven by God's love we make an urgent and special appeal to pray for our ministry and help us to raise at least $30,000 to continue to feed the hungry and make repairs in our building.St. Matthew's is the home of the El Comedor Popular soup kitchen, which feeds the hungry in Chicago. They have been experiencing some difficult times with their ministry. They are in a permanent financial struggle, but they endure to feed the homeless and unemployed whose numbers continue to grow because of the economy. |

Request from Pastor Duane Fluechtling, St. John's Lutheran Church, Lansing, Illinois A member family of St. John's Lutheran Church experienced a house fire last weekend. The house and all its contents is a total loss. Thankfully Dad, Mom and their 11 year old son were not injured. Since the house was destroyed they are in need of everything. | Housing & Car Fund - Faith Lake Forest |
Requested by Pastor Gerald Menk, Faith Lutheran Church, Lake Forest, Illinois. Housing and Car Repairs Needed for Single Woman and her Mother Homeless mother and adult daughter need your help to pay for alternator and battery repairs on their car - their car stores all their possessions and is a place of shelter at times. They also need assistance to find affordable housing for the 41-year-old daughter; she can pay something and is willing to clean/or cook to help with the rest. While the social security check will help with some of these expenses it is not sufficient to pay for everything so any assistance with car repairs and housing leads would truly be a great help. |
| Housing Assist - Faith Lake Fo | We are working with an elderly woman in the area who urgently needs help. She is in need of housing. Due to circumstances beyond her control, she is desperate. Ideally it would be great to find a room in someone's home "Maria" is able and very willing to help out around the house; however anything that can be done to help would be greatly appreciated. |

| Iraqi Refugee Family Facing Eviction | Request from Hicham Chehab for $1000 to help an Iraqi refugee family. |
| Isaac's Orphanage, Haiti | The 10 Orphaned Children that Pastor Isaac has taken into his home have all felt hunger. There is never enough food for their stomachs but Pastor assures me that these children will have a better life with him, even without food everyday, because they are learning that they do not need voodoo to protect them. They have a Loving God and a Savior who is always with them and he will never abandon them like so many Haitian children that have been left to die. My last letter asked for sponsors to help support these 10 children. 16 wonderful sponsors came forward to commit to $25.00 a month. The first months donation has already been received by Pastor Isaac and he is very grateful. He will now be able to put some of the children in school. After talking with a LCMS Missionary who runs a orphanage in another part of Haiti we decided it will take 4 donors per child to cover food, clothing, medical and school expenses. Unlike Compassion who asks for $30.00 a month they do not cover living expenses for the children only fees for the after school projects run by local churches and maybe 1 meal a day. Pastor is responsible for ALL of their living expenses. So we are looking for 24 more sponsors. Please consider feeding a child who is always hungry as you count your blessings this Thanksgiving. |

He basically is like a burn victim who will never heal. 1 in 300,000 babies are born with this rare disease. He needs our prayers and special care from Mayo Clinic. His parent's insurance does not cover this cost. Thrivent Financial has offered to match funds up to $5000. You can read about JJ's journey on St. Matthew's website www.stmatts.net. | Kara Stem Cell Treatment | Request from Pastor Dan Dierks, Peace Lutheran Church Schererville, IndianaKara is a nine year old girl with Cerebral Palsy. She lives in Dyer, Indiana and is a member of Peace Lutheran Church. She suffers from Cerebral Palsy because of a stroke that occurred prior to her birth. She is unable to walk on her own and has limited use of her left arm. She also suffers from seizure disorder, for which she takes medication daily. Kara participates in therapies in school and at a pediatric clinic, and though much progress has been made, it is slow. Surgery was offered as the only option to help Kara with her physical and orthopedic impairments, and continued therapy the best option to help her become more independent. Because of the unavailability of other treatment programs in the United States, Kara’s family has decided to take her to China for stem cell treatment. In this five-week program, Kara would receive stem cell injections, paired with a rigorous therapy program. The treatment will be given at The Wu Stem Cells Medical Center in Beijing, China (www.unistemcells.com) beginning December 14, 2009 and continuing into January 2010. Our anticipated hope is to see global improvement in Kara’s abilities, physically and mentally, and the treating doctor feels very confident we will see these results. Kara is covered under insurance; however, her insurance will not cover any portion of the treatment in China (or anywhere out of the country, for that matter). Because of this, Kara’s family will have to pay out-of-pocket for the treatment and all associated costs, equaling approximately $30,000. |

| Lutheran Amateur Radio Support Network SignUp | LCC and LCMS World Relief and Human Care Network Partnering Be Part of the Lutheran Amateur Radio Support Network Lutheran Church Charities is partnering with LCMS World Relief and Human Care to start a Amateur Radio Support Network. Are you an Amateur Radio Operator? Consider being part of the Network to help in Disaster situations. It is estimated that over one thousand amateur radio operators participated in assisting with the disaster communications during and after Hurricane Katrina. Often, when a major disaster strikes and our modern communications, such as phones and e-mail, are knocked out, ham radio is the best option for emergency communications. A Lutheran ham network would be a great asset to our church and would provide an emergency communications link for our churches, and the communities that they serve, in times of disaster. In the event that a major disaster disrupts cellular and even land-line telephones, the congregations in distress will be able to communicate with family, friends, and other congregations outside the disaster area to let them know they are okay or in need of immediate assistance. LCMS amateur radio operators of any license level can join the network. Experience in emergency communications through groups like the Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service (RACES) or the Amateur Radio Emergency Services (ARES) is especially welcome but not necessary. The new LCMS network will conduct emergency communications training on the air and run drills once it is up and running. Monthly nets (gatherings of amateur operators on a specific radio frequency) will be used to disseminate information to network operators. |

| Lutheran Couple in Need of Assistance | Request from Pastor Thomas Spahn, Interim Pastor Bethel Lutheran Church, Gurnee, ILWe are working with a member family that is in dire need. They are a 58-year-old couple, married for 39 years, and are facing a financial crisis. He lost his manufacturing high management position 35 months ago and they have consumed all of their 401 retirement investments and stocks. In the past year he had major reconstructive surgery for skin cancer. Now they are on the verge of losing their home, unable to use their maxed out credit card, have borrowed against their life insurance policies, are behind on property taxes and have medical bills that have gone to a collection agency. If his minimal health insurance coverage is lost, he may be uninsurable in the future. They both eagerly serve on committees and boards of our congregation and volunteer for many church-related activities. The congregation is helping the family in every way that we can but their needs are greater than we can do alone. If anyone is moved to donate to help this family get back on their feet it would be a tremendous blessing for them. |

| Meagan Seals Fund |
Request from Pastor Phil Ressler of Lord of Life LaFox Meagan Seals is a miracle of God. While still in the womb, Meagan was diagnosed with a rare brain disorder called Encephalocele where the brain is formed outside the skull. The Seals were told to have an abortion as children with this condition are not expected to live. By the grace of God and the amazement of doctors, Meagan was born into this world. But even after her birth, the doctors did not expect her to live and put her in hospice care. It was at this time I had to privilege to baptize her and after she was baptized she began to thrive.Meagan's parents want to get a infant wheel chair for Meagan. The chair is designed to support her spine and to help her sit up. Insurance will cover most of the expenses for this chair. However, the Seals still need to come up with $2000 by the end of the year. |
| Med Trt-ChristLC-OrlPk | $2,500 Needed for 18 Year Old Haitian Boy's Medical Treatment in ChicagoRequest from Susan Gross, Haitian Lutheran Mission Project, Christ Lutheran Church, Orland Park The Haitian Lutheran Mission Project has been asked to assist an 18 year old Haitian boy named Ronest from Les Cayes, Haiti. He has been diagnosed with a condition called neurofibromatosis. These are small tumors that grow all over his body. They may return after being removed but we are considering bringing him to the States to have them removed because two of the largest tumors (one on his upper left arm and one on his upper left chest) have become very painful. He has a number of other lumps on his lip, torso, arms and legs. He has contacted Nora (a full time missionary at our Lutheran Church in Les Cayes) for help and she contacted us. Nora has been a friend of ours for years and we often network to help the Lutheran Pastors in Haiti. Nora has already arranged for a hospital and surgeon (here in Illinois) to pick up the cost of his surgery and hospital stay. He also has a Host Family ready to care for him but other expenses (air fare, passport etc.) totaling $2,500 need to be met. Ronest lives with his grandmother and 4 year old sister. His father is a mechanic, his mother died in 2007. He lives in a 3 room house with rock walls, an iron roof and cement floor. There are 2 beds in the home and it does have electricity at times but no running water. He does NOT have food to eat every day. Please consider helping us bring Ronest to Chicago for treatment. If you have questions please email Susan at suelynn144@aol.com |

| Mother of 3 Med Asst-LOG-Grslk | Single Mother of Three Needs Car and Financial Assistance Request from Pastor Brian Davies, Lord of Glory Lutheran Church, Grayslake Thank you, people of God, for recently helping Lord of Glory in Grayslake provide support for an abandoned wife and mother. We now have another family, a different family entirely, who now has nothing also thanks to a fleeing husband and father. After being arrested and jailed for domestic abuse, this father/husband somehow made bail, and has taken the car, cell phone, and other necessary items. In addition to a 10-year-old and an 8-year-old, they have a one-year-old little guy that has Down Syndrome. So, needless to say, there are lots of doctor appointments to go to, etc., and mom has no way there. We are hoping to line up this family with a used car and also provide about $1500 to help with immediate needs. I can be reached at pastorbrian@lordofglory.org. Thanks and God Bless. |

They were living in Matteson and the children are going to school in Matteson. They're currently paying a lot of money to stay in a hotel. The mom works nights and goes to school. They are also paying rent to store their belongings. She is asking for help in finding an affordable apartment in the south suburbs. She would also like to work days instead of nights, so she is interested in a job such as secretary. |

She is a single mother of two beautiful young school age girls. She's hard working and has actively been in search of employment since she lost her job over six months ago. But she's fallen behind with her rent and is in urgent need of $1,500. She wants to keep her children stable and would absolutely love to avoid eviction because she knows that will affect how the children perform in school. Could you please put out a word on your widely read weekly publication to see if there are people out there who are willing to help keep this mother and her children stable by keeping the roof over their head. |

Recently, Jana’s husband left her, and Jana is left without a job, money, and soon a place to live, as she is scheduled to be evicted on November 25th. Her husband is also about to take her vehicle away. Her child is now on scholarship with our preschool, and our food pantry is helping, but we are looking for help in providing a vehicle, living expenses, and a place to live. We are looking for about $1500 to help Jana’s immediate needs and help her avoid eviction. Any help of either a car or monetary donations will be a blessing to this family. |
| Single Mother Facing Foreclosure | Request from Pastor James Zimmerman, St. Paul Lutheran Church, Addison IllinoisWe have a member family that we are working with that is facing foreclosure. She is a single mother, her child is in high school. She recently lost her job and is actively looking for work. She is not eligible for unemployment so she doesn’t have any money coming in. Prior to losing her job she had an excellent credit history. She has only been in her home for a few years so she doesn’t have much equity. Because she is ineligible for unemployment her situation is becoming desperate. The congregation is helping all that we can. Any additional help that can be provided would be such a blessing to this family. |
| Single Woman Needs Assistance - $2000 in Medical | Request from Pastor Dan Wegrzyn, St. John's Lutheran Church, Lombard. We have a member who is going through difficult financial times. She recently had a medical situation add to her debt (she is on a COBRA plan) as well as slowing down her mobility. She also suffers from depression. Her family lives out of state and can not help her financially or support her in her living situation. The congregation is helping her but she is in need of $2,000 to clear up her medical bills. Any assistance that she can receive as she struggles to pay her bills while she continues to look for full time work would be such a blessing to her. |

| Stdnt Missionary Japan-LCMSWM | Help Needed for Student Missionary in Japan Request from Rev. Carl Kaye, former NID Pastor currently serving as a Missionary in JapanAs we pray for our brothers in Haiti, I’d like to introduce a need for one of our young missionaries in Japan. Jenae Siebarth is doing great things for Jesus with Japanese kids in the Japan Lutheran Church. Jenae, an LCMS World Missions GEO missionary needs financial help to continue working in Japan as a volunteer missionary, reaching hundreds of young people for Jesus Christ each year. Multiply this by 3 to 5 more years and you can imagine how one college graduate is doing great things for the kingdom. She’s taken a step of faith by raising her own funding, leaving home and friends and has worked tirelessly on the Japan mission field for the last three and half years teaching English, and organizing evangelism events. Unfortunately, her financial support base needs some help. Jenae will need to raise several thousand dollars to stay on the mission field in Japan where less than 1 % of the population is Christian. I highly recommend her, and as a pastor in Chicago, formerly working with International students at UIC, I would hire her myself. She’s a passionate missionary. Her contact info is the following: See her prayer card at www.lcmsworldmission.org/prayercards or read her online giving page at www.lcms.org/pages/internal.asp?NavID=10139. If you would like to read any of her current or recent newsletters, please contact her at Jenae.Siebarth@lcms.org and she'd be happy to send you some. |

| Unemp Father 4 - CelebMin PkFo | Request from Christine Rechsteiner Campus Ministry Coordinator, Celebration Ministries, Park Forest, Illinois We have a gentleman at our church that lost his job 7 months ago. In the meantime, while he looks for work, he has given 110% of his extra time in helping us get the ministry off the ground. His car broke down last week and he continues to walk here (which takes him an hour) to continue to be a blessing to us. The repairs to his car will cost $1500. He is divorced and pays child support for his four children. He just has enough money to pay his regular bills; this car expense will put him behind. We are doing all we can to help him. Any additional support for him would be such a blessing for this tireless servant! |

| Van Repairs - Pastor Brazeal | Pastor John Brazeal of Christ the King Lutheran Church in Chicago stopped at a gas station to fill his van. While standing at the window to pay he watched a car pull in, try to make a tight turn and then plow into his van. Three teenage girls jumped out of the car and ran away. Pastor Brazeal’s van had been totaled by girls out joy riding in a stolen car! If he had been pumping gas at the time he would have been seriously injured and possibly killed. Because the car was stolen at the time of the accident there is no insurance settlement. But God provides. LCC has received the donation of a van from a member family of Cross Lutheran in Yorkville. The van is in good shape but needs some work on the brakes a few other repairs. The cost of the needed repairs is $650.00. Because there is no insurance money available for Pastor Brazeal please consider a donation to put him back on the road serving his congregation and community. |

| Widow and 3 Children Need Assistance - Salem - CA | Request from Pastor Craig Molitoris, Salem Lutheran Church, Orange, CAI am praying that you may be able to assist a family in our midst who really needs help right now. Her name is Satu and her situation is dire. Satu lost her husband to a sudden heart attack two months ago, and only one week afterward she had to undergo a mastectomy due to stage 4 cancer. Satu has three children ages 15 months, 4, and 6 years old. Because of her ongoing rehabilitation and treatments, she is unable to perform basic motherly duties. There was no life insurance, nor is she eligible for any social security. Her home is in foreclosure and at this point, we're trying to help keep her in her home as long as possible until another option becomes available and until she regains some strength. In the meantime, she doesn't have a job nor will she be able to work anytime soon due to the aggressiveness of the cancer and her poor health condition; in other words, she has no income and no possibility of income except that of donations at this time.We need your help! Above all, Satu needs and covets your prayers for her and her family. Besides helping with the kids, helping with laundry and around the house, donations of grocery and gas cards, weekly or monthly financial donations that will help pay for food, utilities and basic needs are all greatly needed. Any help would be greatly appreciated and really help Satu and her family during this incredibly difficult time.I appreciate your consideration and prayers on behalf of this family. |
| Widow Medical - Flint, Michigan |
Request from Pastor Steve Lockman, Emanuel Lutheran Church, Flint, Michigan
I have a member who is need of assistance. Her husband was called Home last month. She was just informed by his former employer that in order to maintain her health insurance she will need to pay a $442 per month premium. Before her husband died the insurance premium was $119 per month. She is not able to pay both her mortgage payment and her health insurance. Her doctor has told her that due to her own health she will need to apply for Social Security and disability. Our congregation does not have the resources to help her with ongoing expenses. Any assistance would be a blessing to her. |

| Yolanda Rent Asst-St Peter Schaumb | Request from Pastor Dave Hudak, St. Peter Lutheran Church, Schaumburg, Illinois. Yolanda lives in the Schaumburg area in a rented apartment. She was working two jobs in order to make ends meet, but recently lost her part time job. As a result of this uncertainty, her son is now living with his father in Florida. She recently received information that she would be evicted from her apartment if she could not come up with $1,169 in back rent. While Yolanda is not a member of St. Peter, she does have roots in the Lutheran Church back in Puerto Rico. We are also assisting her with food from our food pantry at this time. I would appreciate any help that could be offered to Yolanda at this time. |
