Asirvadh Children's Home USA A large number of underprivileged women and children in India are in desperate need of hope for life. A lady named Jeyanthi Asheervath recognized this great need and had a vision for the betterment of humanity and this much-needed hope to those marginalized in Indian Society. To recognize this vision, Jeyanthi established the foundations for a functional familial system in a Christ-centered atmosphere and founded Asirvadh Children's Home. In India the "ashram" (Children's Home) concept is a communal society that fosters the strengths of individuals and harnesses their energies to sustain a shared vision.

Ghana Family Rent - Trinity Lisle Request from Pastor Mark Schultz, Trinity Lutheran Church, Lisle, Illinois
Dr. Samuel Mills has been leading worship and Bible study with Love Community Fellowship, a non-denominational gathering using space at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lisle. Now he is returning to his home country of Ghana to teach at the University of Ghana. He will also be ministering in the area of Bible education. Trinity is giving him some support in that effort but he has an additional personal need. While he returns to Ghana to teach for 6 months, his family will be remaining here so as to not disrupt the care and schooling of his autistic son. He is in need of rent assistance and a car during the period he will be away in Ghana.
Haiti / Dominican Republic - Bible Study Materials Requests for access to Crossways International's (CI) materials-See Through the Scriptures (STS) in particular-continue to come in from numerous corners of the world. This course has been translated into many languages-including Spanish and French. At the present time, workers in Haiti and the Dominican Republic are asking for thousands of copies of this course in both languages. The initial request was for a total of 9,000 copies which would cost $1.25 per copy to print in the Dominican Republic. CI simply does not have access to the needed funding. However, workers in these countries are asking for at least 2,000 copies (1,000 of each translation) which they can print for $1.50 each. STS has also been translated into Creole, the major language used in Haiti. The hope is to print also this new translation. Although the people who live in Haiti and Dominican Republic have little of this world's goods, they have a passion to learn more about Jesus. Can you help fund these projects? Please consider making an ETERNAL Difference in a life! We continue to raise funds for food (see article below) but also need to provide spiritual food.
Haiti Schools Mission We have the opportunity not only to educate 418 children by supporting 15 teachers but to expose them to Christian Values through Bible study that is taught in these Lutheran Schools. These children will go home and teach their parents that Voudou is not their salvation but Jesus Christ is. The Haitian people have a great respect for education so they will listen to what their children bring home from school.

Isaac's Orphanage, Haiti The 10 Orphaned Children that Pastor Isaac has taken into his home have all felt hunger. There is never enough food for their stomachs but Pastor assures me that these children will have a better life with him, even without food everyday, because they are learning that they do not need voodoo to protect them. They have a Loving God and a Savior who is always with them and he will never abandon them like so many Haitian children that have been left to die. My last letter asked for sponsors to help support these 10 children. 16 wonderful sponsors came forward to commit to $25.00 a month. The first months donation has already been received by Pastor Isaac and he is very grateful. He will now be able to put some of the children in school. After talking with a LCMS Missionary who runs a orphanage in another part of Haiti we decided it will take 4 donors per child to cover food, clothing, medical and school expenses. Unlike Compassion who asks for $30.00 a month they do not cover living expenses for the children only fees for the after school projects run by local churches and maybe 1 meal a day. Pastor is responsible for ALL of their living expenses. So we are looking for 24 more sponsors. Please consider feeding a child who is always hungry as you count your blessings this Thanksgiving.

Kara Stem Cell Treatment Request from Pastor Dan Dierks, Peace Lutheran Church Schererville, Indiana Kara is a nine year old girl with Cerebral Palsy. She lives in Dyer, Indiana and is a member of Peace Lutheran Church. She suffers from Cerebral Palsy because of a stroke that occurred prior to her birth. She is unable to walk on her own and has limited use of her left arm. She also suffers from seizure disorder, for which she takes medication daily. Kara participates in therapies in school and at a pediatric clinic, and though much progress has been made, it is slow. Surgery was offered as the only option to help Kara with her physical and orthopedic impairments, and continued therapy the best option to help her become more independent. Because of the unavailability of other treatment programs in the United States, Kara’s family has decided to take her to China for stem cell treatment. In this five-week program, Kara would receive stem cell injections, paired with a rigorous therapy program. The treatment will be given at The Wu Stem Cells Medical Center in Beijing, China (www.unistemcells.com) beginning December 14, 2009 and continuing into January 2010. Our anticipated hope is to see global improvement in Kara’s abilities, physically and mentally, and the treating doctor feels very confident we will see these results. Kara is covered under insurance; however, her insurance will not cover any portion of the treatment in China (or anywhere out of the country, for that matter). Because of this, Kara’s family will have to pay out-of-pocket for the treatment and all associated costs, equaling approximately $30,000.

This includes miscellaneous expenses for the dog such as health care, insurance and of course, treats! Lutheran Amateur Radio Support Network SignUp LCC and LCMS World Relief and Human Care Network Partnering Be Part of the Lutheran Amateur Radio Support Network Lutheran Church Charities is partnering with LCMS World Relief and Human Care to start a Amateur Radio Support Network. Are you an Amateur Radio Operator? Consider being part of the Network to help in Disaster situations. It is estimated that over one thousand amateur radio operators participated in assisting with the disaster communications during and after Hurricane Katrina. Often, when a major disaster strikes and our modern communications, such as phones and e-mail, are knocked out, ham radio is the best option for emergency communications. A Lutheran ham network would be a great asset to our church and would provide an emergency communications link for our churches, and the communities that they serve, in times of disaster. In the event that a major disaster disrupts cellular and even land-line telephones, the congregations in distress will be able to communicate with family, friends, and other congregations outside the disaster area to let them know they are okay or in need of immediate assistance. LCMS amateur radio operators of any license level can join the network. Experience in emergency communications through groups like the Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service (RACES) or the Amateur Radio Emergency Services (ARES) is especially welcome but not necessary. The new LCMS network will conduct emergency communications training on the air and run drills once it is up and running. Monthly nets (gatherings of amateur operators on a specific radio frequency) will be used to disseminate information to network operators.

Recently, Jana’s husband left her, and Jana is left without a job, money, and soon a place to live, as she is scheduled to be evicted on November 25th. Her husband is also about to take her vehicle away. Her child is now on scholarship with our preschool, and our food pantry is helping, but we are looking for help in providing a vehicle, living expenses, and a place to live. We are looking for about $1500 to help Jana’s immediate needs and help her avoid eviction. Any help of either a car or monetary donations will be a blessing to this family.

Widow Medical - Flint, Michigan Request from Pastor Steve Lockman, Emanuel Lutheran Church, Flint, Michigan

I have a member who is need of assistance. Her husband was called Home last month. She was just informed by his former employer that in order to maintain her health insurance she will need to pay a $442 per month premium. Before her husband died the insurance premium was $119 per month. She is not able to pay both her mortgage payment and her health insurance. Her doctor has told her that due to her own health she will need to apply for Social Security and disability.

Our congregation does not have the resources to help her with ongoing expenses. Any assistance would be a blessing to her.

Yolanda Rent Asst-St Peter Schaumb Request from Pastor Dave Hudak, St. Peter Lutheran Church, Schaumburg, Illinois. Yolanda lives in the Schaumburg area in a rented apartment. She was working two jobs in order to make ends meet, but recently lost her part time job. As a result of this uncertainty, her son is now living with his father in Florida. She recently received information that she would be evicted from her apartment if she could not come up with $1,169 in back rent. While Yolanda is not a member of St. Peter, she does have roots in the Lutheran Church back in Puerto Rico. We are also assisting her with food from our food pantry at this time. I would appreciate any help that could be offered to Yolanda at this time.
